Piping text is a way to pass custom text to the next question based on the option selected. Using piping text, you can ask follow-up questions and maintain context for respondents when they are responding or giving feedback.
Here we will look at piping text using the ${piping_text} replacement tag. A good example for using the ${piping_text} replacement tag is when you want to ask follow up questions for all options selected. This is also referred to as looping.
Consider an example where you are asking respondents to select restaurants from which they have ordered pizzas and then ask them follow up questions for all selections. To set up piping logic with looping, go to: Login » Surveys (Select a survey) » Edit First set up your survey questions. Then click on the logic option to set up piping logic for the question we want to pipe text from.
Under Skip Logic, enable looping logic. Now select the jump to question for each option and enter the required piping text.
Click on Save Logic
When respondents answer the survey, for the selected options, the piping text entered for the selected options will be used in the follow-up question
If you only want to display the option text that has been selected without modifications. Simply add the tag ${QUESTION_CODE}
A few examples to help:Yes. You can pipe text captured along with the other option for a question.
Format for piping other option text is: ${question_code_OTHER} For example, you want to pipe text captured with the other option for a question with code: Q5, then the format will be: ${Q5_OTHER}. Wherever you use this tag, the other option text will be displayed.
