Device Variables

Device variables help you with managing your devices and help with analyzing data collected on the respective devices.

For example, you have 10 devices collecting data in the field. You can tag each device with specific device variables and these tags or system data will be saved along with the response.

Go to: Login » Surveys » Mobile

Under My Devices click on the device name. On the popup, go to Device Variables

Here, you can select the variable you wish to update and what data to update it with and save.

Following options are avialable:

• Custom: Will update the variable with the set custom text. Format: String (Custom text set from web)
• Date: Will update the variable selected with the current date. Format: MM/DD/YYYY Example: 02/22/2020
• Day: Will update the variable selected with the current day. Format: DAY Example: WEDNESDAY
• Time: Will update the variable selected with the current time. Format: ddd MMM DD HH:mm:ss z YYYY Example: Thu Jan 22 12:52:41 IST 2020
• City: Will update the variable selected with the city (IP based). Format: City Example: Austin
• State/Region: Will update the variable selected with the state/region (IP based). Format: State Example: Texas
• Country: Will update the variable selected with the state/region (IP based). Format: Country Example: Brazil
• Device: Will update the variable selected with the device model. Format: Device Name and Model Example: iPhone 6
• Operating System: Will update the variable selected with the OS (Android, iOS, etc.). Format: OS Example: iOS
• Language: Will update the variable selected with the device default language. Format: Selected Survey language Example: French

Yes. Go to app settings.

Click on Update Variables

Select the variables you would like to update.
