The Economic Contribution of Urban Forestry in the State of California: Survey of Colleges and Universities |
| |
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE) has commissioned Dr. Scott Templeton to conduct a comprehensive study of the economic contributions of urban forestry throughout California. Dr. Templeton conducted a similar study in the mid-1990s while a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. He currently works as an associate professor at Clemson University. CALFIRE’s objective for this research is to improve natural resource management and highlight the economic importance of urban forestry for policy and budgetary decision-makers.
Your participation in this survey is crucial. Your institution may spend money on tree pruning, tree planting, tree removal, root care, and other services related to urban forests in town. Your answers to the questions below will be treated confidentially. The information that you provide will help us to estimate the expenditures of local governments for urban forestry in the state.
Please write ‘$0’ if your organization did not spend money on the activity or cost category in question. An estimate is better than no answer. If you can provide an estimate, please write `estimate' after the answer. If not, just answer `don't know'. Please answer these questions by February 15th, 2010.
