What is the purpose of this study?

The purpose of this study is to discover if the emergence of social media has influenced voting trends in people aged between 16-24 in recent U.K elections, compared to previous trends.





 Why have I been chosen?

You have been chosen to take part in this study because you are a young person and your answers could greatly help the proposed research.





 Do I have to take part?

It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. If you do decide to take part you will be given this information sheet to keep and be asked to sign a consent form. If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw within two weeks without giving a reason.



 

What will happen to me if I take part?

Your answers will help me to conclude my research project; overall it will allow me to see if social media has influenced voting trends in young people aged between 16-24 in recent U.K elections. I can then compare this to previous trends found. Participation is anonymous and your name would not be printed on the finished piece of research.



 

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?

There are no disadvantages or risks of taking part in the research; you can withdraw within two weeks if you decide that you no longer want to participate.





What are the possible benefits of taking part?

Possible benefits of taking part in the research include the fact that you can read over the outcome of the research with the knowledge that you contributed.





Will my taking part in this study be kept confidential?

All information collected from you will be stored, analysed and reported in compliance with the Data Protection Act (1998).





What will happen to the results of the research study?

The results of the study will be collected and analysed then put in my dissertation.
