Hello:
Thank you for agreeing to participate in this survey for my EDL 900 course.

The assignment is to conduct interviews with individuals within the organization/agency/system as it relates to your disseration topic.  As you are probably aware, I'm very interested in learning more about how substance use/misuse prevention and suicide prevention can work together.

Your information will only be utilized for this course assignment.

As state level suicide prevention professionals, you are on the front lines of implementation of this work and your input is very important as I move forward with my research into this topic.

Please complete the questions by September 15 if at all possible.  If you aren't able to do so, please let me know at [email protected].

Again, thanks for your input.
Patti

How many years have you worked in prevention?

From your position as a suicide prevention professional working at the state level and within the state prevention system, do you consider it important that suicide prevention should consider finding ways to work with other sectors, such as substance use/misuse?  Why or why not?

What do you perceive to be the obstacles and/or opportunities for developing partnerships specifically between suicide prevention and substance use/misuse prevention, but also among other sectors via shared risk and protective factors?

What resources do you most need for your organization to be successful in developing synergies between the substance use/misuse prevention field and suicide prevention field?

Thinking about your individual organizational system, what is the one thing that most needs to change in order for this work to be successful and to reduce the consequences of substance use as well as death by suicides across the state? Why?

How important do you think it is for suicide prevention to work with other sectors via shared risk and protective factors to increase the perceived value of prevention services in the field? Why?

Is there anything else on this subject you would like to share? Your input is valuable.

Thank you for participating in this interview. If I have any questions related to your responses, I will touch bases with you via email or phone.

Have a great day.
