UNSW Student Wellbeing Survey - 2013
INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
You are invited to participate in a research study to explore student wellbeing. Wellbeing refers to how students feel
and how they function in a variety of areas.
WHAT ARE WE STUDYING?
We are interested in:
The
levels of wellbeing demonstrated by UNSW students (as identified by answers to the questions in this survey)?
How
wellbeing changes in response to stress?
The
coping strategies UNSW students use?
What
factors affect student wellbeing?
How
student wellbeing is related to academic performance?
This survey uses specific questions and established scales to explore wellbeing and experiences of stress, anxiety,
and depression, quality of life, drug and alcohol use, expressed coping styles, helpseeking
behaviors and also
academic performance. We also ask some basic background information about you and your enrolment status and
your WAM (weighted average mark).
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
We invite you to complete the following online survey. It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
There is very little in the way of researched understanding about the experiences of student wellbeing in Australia.
Your honest responses are important for the credibility of the study. This research is building on the understanding
generated by two previous surveys of UNSW students (2004 and 2009). We ask that you take your answers to this
survey seriously and to contribute to this research on student wellbeing. Your responses will help shape the provision
of services and programs to support students at UNSW.
A report on the deidentified
data will be published and made visible to the UNSW community.
Thank you in advance for your considered participation.
