For my MBA final dissertation I am analysing if bonus schemes like
Pay-For-Performance (PFP)
are the appropriate answer for the MRO aviation industry to improve productivity without compromising with the safety.

Introducing PFP schemes within the aviation MRO industry could compromise the maintenance safety.

The design and the introduction of an adequate scheme is task of the upper management and HR managers (Top Down).
Goals need to be specific, challenging, measurable and achievable.
The competitive strategy as well as the values of the company must be addressed by the system.
It the strategy supports entrepreneurial attitude and independent effort, individual PFP system become increasingly important and effective.
Openness and trust from/towards the management is key if employees are to accept the standards and believe in the equity of the system.

Only upper management and sales departments shall be rewarded as they usually contribute the most to the EBIT achievement.
Group achievements shall be measured and rewarded through PSP schemes but not the single (Group incentives programs).
Achievements of the single shall be measured and rewarded through PSP schemes but not the group (Individual incentive schemes).
Work floor forces (blue collars) shall not be rewarded through a PFP scheme because this could jeopardize the product safety.
Reporting and feedback in regard to the achievement shall be given on a regular basis.
A PFP scheme shall be evaluated yearly to check its consistency and adjusted if necessary.
