OWL Rubric

A. I speak English & Spanish to my peers and teacher. I don't attempt to stay in Spanish the whole class period.

B. I speak mostly Spanish, but I switch to English when I have trouble. I may have side conversations in English during transitions.

C. I always speak in Spanish, however I sometimes use English when I get stuck. I NEVER have side conversations in English.

D. I always speak Spanish in class, to my peers and to my teacher. I never use English in Spanish class.

E. I use 100% Spanish in class. I never speak a word of English and I encourage others to do the same.

A. I am not always doing what I need to be doing. Profe needs to redirect me.

B. I minimally participate (enough to get Profe off my back). I mostly copy others and coast along.

C. I always participate in class and follow instructions.

D. I actively participate. I contribute to lessons, ask questions and seek new information.

E. I capitalize on every minute in Spanish class as an opportunity to grow and learn. I am a leader in the classroom.

A. I exhibit negativity or a reluctance to be in class or participate in activities. I take away from the positive community.

B. I'm not actively negative towards anyone, but I exhibit a disinterested attitude and lack any enthusiasm.

C. I may contribute to the positive community, but it depends on the day and my mood.

D. I am always positive and willing to try new things. I support my classmates in doing the same by helping establish a non-threatening environment where all participants can be themselves and take risks to have fun and learn.

E. I take a leadership role in fostering a positive community. I make people in the class feel more comfortable and am always willing to learn and have fun.

A. I am generally not respectful to my peers and/or profe. I may interrupt, not follow the rules, or refuse to cooperate.

B. I have occassionally been disrespectful to my peers and/or profe. I do not always follow class rules.

C. I am generally respectful and willing to work with everyone, but it depends on the day and my mood.

D. I am respectful of my peers, profe, and the rules. I am willing to work with everyone.

E. I am always respectful to profe, my peers and class rules. I am role model and actively encourage others to do the same.

A. I make little to no attempt to apply recently learned material. I stay in my comfort zone. When I have any trouble I get frustrated and give up and/or make no attempt.

B. I sometimes go out of my way to try out new material, but I mostly stick in my comfort zone.

C. I attempt to apply newly learned material, but when it gets difficult, I resort back to my comfort zone.

D. I am focused on applying new learning material and stretch to the next level. I take a lot of risks and make mistakes as I experiment with new concepts. I study the class vocab list on my own.

E. I am dead set on learning as much as I can in this class by taking advantages of all the in and out of class opportunities (asking question, studying quizlet on my own).
