Dear Washington Square Park Docent,

We are so grateful for your volunteer service this spring, summer, and fall as part of our inaugural class of greeters and guides. Since this program was new for us, as well as for you, we knew there would be much to iron out. We are so grateful for your upbeat attitude and flexibility as we developed this program together.

To help us improve the volunteer experience going forward, we’d love to hear from you about the quality of your orientation and your service. We’d also like to get your thoughts about the actual experience as a greeter and/or guide. The survey should take approximately ____ minutes. We appreciate your honesty and have therefore made the survey anonymous.

Please start with the survey now by clicking on the Continue button below.

Was the material presented in orientation useful for the type of questions/encounters you have when greeting? On your tours?

Please indicate how interesting/useful you found each of the orientation lectures.
Emily Folpe - history of the Square
John Krawchuk - Arch history and conservation
George Vellonakis - history of the park's landscape
Rebecca Goetz - history of Native Americans and the Square

For the next orientation, we are considering separating the greeter and guide training. Greeter training hours would be reduced, and volunteers would have to complete greeter training before they could begin guide orientation. What are your thoughts about this change?

If we do make this change, what topics/lectures do you think should still be included in greeter orientation?
