Study Title: How Familial Expectations Affect Education and Career Paths of Women in Venezuela, Iran, and Japan: An Exploratory Study.
 
The investigators listed above are students at Webster University. We are conducting research on how culture affects women’s educational and career opportunities and choices.
 
We are asking you to participate in a research study. Please take your time to read the information below and feel free to ask us any questions before signing this document.
 
This study is being conducted for the purpose of providing us information as to the expectations of women in different cultures. By answering the questions in the questionnaire, you will be providing valuable information about the values, attitudes, and beliefs of your culture. We will be using this information to ascertain how these expectations might affect women’s education and career paths. This information will be used by Jennifer M. Pierce and Maria Escalona for the purposes of general research which may be presented at one or more conferences.
 
Your participation requires filling out the informed consent form, minimum demographic data, an online/paper survey, and a face-to-face interview. The documents and survey should require less than two hours of your time.
 
Participation in this study is voluntary. You may withdraw from study participation at any time without any penalty. In addition, you may ask to have your data withdrawn from the study after the research has been conducted.
 
During this study, information will be collected about you for the purposes of this research. This includes, but is not limited to, your first name, your age, gender/sex, and geographical area. Your identity will be protected and confidential. You will be assigned a pseudonym which will be used, if needed, in any research paper or presentation. Our research records may be reviewed by federal agencies whose responsibility is to protect human subjects participating in research, including the Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) and by representatives from Webster University Institutional Review Board, a committee that oversees research.
