The Faculty Senate is conducting a brief survey to ask for your input on what university committees you would like to serve on for 2014-15. The survey will take less than 5 minutes to complete. Please respond to the survey by June 15th. NOTE: If you do not respond to this survey, we will assume that you love committee work and want to serve on hundreds and hundreds of university committees. So, you really might want to respond. :)
When determining the assignments to university committees, the Faculty Senate, University President and Provost work closely together. Factors that are considered when making assignments include:
1. Composing committees of members that are consistent with our bylaws (some committees must have certain members represented)
2. Ensuring cross disciplinary representation
3. Matching faculty skills with committee needs to ensure the work is done well
4. Balancing committee continuity and new membership for optimal turn-over
5. Considering faculty preference on committees
6. Considering faculty workload in terms of overall service
Thank you so much in advance.
