Prevalence of Cosmetic Procedures among Facial Plastic Surgeons

Why is this study being done?
This study is being completed to better understand the current attitudes toward cosmetic surgery among Facial Plastic Surgeons.

What will happen if I take part in this research study?
If you volunteer to participate in this study, the researcher will ask you to do the following:

Complete an online survery.
The survey consists of 5 questions including demographic information and previous cosmetic procedures obtained.
The survey is expected to take 3 minutes or less.
The survey can be completed at your convenience.

How long will I be in the research study?
Participation will be complete once the online survey has been completed.

Are there any potential risks or discomforts that I can expect from this study?
There is minimal anticipated risk associated with this survey. Some participants may feel uncomfortable asking questions about obtaining cosmetic facial plastic procedures despite the confidential nature of the survey. Participants are reminded that involvement in this study is voluntary.

Are there any potential benefits if I participate?
You will not directly benefit from your participation in this study.

Will information about me and my participation be kept confidential?
Any information that is obtained in connection with this study and that can identify you will remain confidential. It will be disclosed only with your permission or as required by law. Confidentiality will be maintained by means of encrypted data software coding. Survey responses will be de-identified and recorded separate from email addresses such that survey responses will not be able to be matched with addresses. This encryption is encoded in the online survey data recording software. Results will only be reported in the aggregate.

What are my rights if I take part in this study?
You can choose whether or not you want to be in this study, and you may withdraw your consent and discontinue participation at any time. Whatever decision you make, there will be no penalty to you, and no loss of benefits to which you were otherwise entitled. You may refuse to answer any questions that you do not want to answer and still remain in the study.
