I, Vithasha Reddy, an honours student in the School of Computing at Unisa, am conducting this study as part of an assignment in the module HRCOS82. The survey should not take longer than 10 minutes to complete.Through your participation in this study entitled ‘Face-to-face or IM? A comparison across generations’, I hope to understand if a communication preference exists for IM or face-to-face and how these preferences compare against different age groups.

The research is conducted under the following conditions:
1. The lives of participants are not under investigation in this research.
2. Participation is entirely voluntary. Participants are free to exit the survey at any point and will not face any penalties for doing so.
3. At no point will participants be asked to reveal their identities. Responses to the survey will be analysed as part of the research along with information such as age and gender but this will all be done whilst the participant remains anonymous.
