Dear BHI Staff:
I am asking for you to take 10-20 minutes and fill out a very important survey.   It has been brought to my attention that a number of women at BHI are feeling that as an organization we are not doing a good or even adequate job around gender equality issues and that sexist attitudes and behavior toward women at BHI is not uncommon and is tolerated.

This is an extremely important issue and one that i want to address head on, even if it means that I need to examine my own behavior and attitudes.  Just the fact that sexism in the organization is a topic of discussion is enough for me to be extremely concerned and what to start to do whatever it takes to address it.   As a non profit mission driven organization which has at its core a mission of social justice and equality, we have got to hold ourselves to a high standard regarding issues on inequity within the workplace.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary.  You are free to participate or not and to the extent you wish to.  If you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point.  However, your honest feedback is vital to my efforts to start to first better understand the concerns and issues and then begin to address them in a holistic and comprehensive manner.

Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential. I have asked Annie Saunders, who is going to be working with us part-time this summer, to be the point person for collecting the data and  presenting the results in aggregate to me.  If you have questions at any time about the survey or the how I am going about this, you may contact Annie or myself on her cell, 425-765-7215 or her BHI email [email protected] .  You all know how to reach me.

Thank you very much for your time and support. As the founder and director of BHI I am 100% responsible for the culture and workplace attitudes, not only the positive ones but the issues that need to change as well.   Please click the Continue button below to start the survey.
