INFORMATION SHEET FOR PARTICIPANTS
            
An investigation into attitudes towards regional accents in England.

Invitation Paragraph
We invite you to take part in our study of attitudes towards regional accents in England. This investigation seeks to gain a greater understanding of the attitudes of 18-24 year olds towards regional accents in England and has been constructed as part of a research assignment at Kings College London. The investigation will take the form of a questionnaire in which you will be asked to listen to four audio clips of different regional accents and following this, you will then be invited to answer a series of questions relating to the audio clips.

What is the purpose of the study?
To explore and investigate the sociological attitudes towards regional accents in England.

Why have I been invited to take part?
To help to form a representative sample of the attitudes of 18-24 year olds across the country.

Do I have to take part?
You are not obligated to participate in this study. Your involvement is completely voluntary. Completion of this questionnaire will be understood as consent to participate in this investigation. You can withdraw anytime before 7th March 2015.

What will happen to me if I take part?
The questionnaire will require completion online and you will be asked to listen to four audio clips of different regional accents. Following this, you will then be asked to answer a series of questions relating to the audio clips. Estimated completion time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Your answers will be collected as data for a university project. Your identity will not be revealed.

Incentives  
There is no financial incentive however your results will be highly valued and useful to us in gaining a deeper understanding of attitudes towards regional accents.

What are the possible risks of taking part?
There are minimal risks taking part within the study. However, if you feel like your rights are being breached, you can withdraw before 7th March 2015.

What are the possible benefits of taking part?
You will help to broaden an understanding of sociological attitudes towards regional accents.

Will my taking part be kept confidential?
Personal sensitive information will be kept confidential. You will not be required to identify yourself by any of the questions featured in the questionnaire.

How is the project being funded?
Funding is supplied through Kings College London.

What will happen to the results of the study?
Results will be collated into data to inform a presentation to students at Kings College London and an individually written report.
