A study to investigate the link between conflict, coping and personality

This survey is being carried out by Danielle Birkett under the supervision of Dr. Nicola Graham- Kevan at the University of Central Lancashire as part of my student project for Msc Forensic Psychology. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me in my research by filling in this questionnaire, it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes.

Some of the questions ask about very sensitive topics revolving around psychopathy, partner violence and aggression. If there are any questions that you do not wish to answer please feel free to miss these out rather than giving false answers. There are also helpline numbers for participants who have been affected by any of the issues explored in this questionnaire. These are on the last page of the questionnaire.

The following questions are for research purposes only and your answers will be completely anonymous. They focus on partner violence and behaviour within your relationships, they ask questions on how you cope with stress, your personality and how you deal with conflict. The data will be used in order to investigate whether a relationships exists between levels of aggression, psychopathy and aspects of partner violence aswell as coping style.

Please do not write your name on the questionnaire, as all answers will remain anonymous. No one will be identifiable from what they have written and all analysis will be of groups of data not individuals. Please answer these questions as honestly as possible.

If you are willing for your data to be used, please return the completed questionnaire to the designated box labelled ‘Danielle Birkett’ in the student room, on the first floor of Darwin Building DB124. By returning your questionnaire to this box you are giving your consent for your responses to be included in the results and data of the study. As all questionnaires are completely anonymous, they can not be returned or withdrawn once they have been submitted.
